In response to many messages from curious minds, Yeti have been hibernating in Scandinavia. Brewing up old songs, new songs.
Bears are such great listeners.

In the latest Japanese interview they attempted to turn Yeti into some kind of wannabe mod outfit (with the usual bait of free clothes). Here are the results.

Apparently the typewriter is “vintage”, like the A button doesn’t work. Then they told Yeti to write a song, and they did.

This week sees Yeti’s first return to Europe post-Italy, playing the mighty Merkker in Switzerland. A great chance to claim some VAT back too since Switzerland ain’t in the EU. Put together by the the curiously-named “i like birds”, who knows what to expect.

A little shout out to those in Italy who made our Italian tour a sterling success. The shows all started after midnight - we like that. “Don’t Go Back To The One You Love” was in the top 3 for several weeks in the MTV “Brand New” Chart - we like that too (see the hi res video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Huxuktj64T8#&fmt=18).
Thank you Milan for the lovely Enrico, thank you Florence for the mountain of mozza balls, liver and ham, and thank you Rome for the San Lorenzo Mods. Special thanks to Michele, who made it happen.

Our 2nd Japan tour and we’re beginning to know our way around the country, especially the streets of Tokyo. NOT.
Why don’t they name or number the streets? Unlike New York, the cab drivers don’t even need an excuse to drive us around the block.
Anyway it’s been another fun adventure, this time in Yokohama, Osaka and Tokyo. A few notable difference compared to last time: A Tower Records “in-store” is actually out on the streets; Freshness Burgers is not always so fresh; the Pirates of The Caribbean stage has gone; Cookies are no longer everywhere.
Thanks to all of you who came down to the shows, we know how expensive the tickets are.

Ps: Thanks to Marvin and Ayako for the funky Tshirts.
Whilst we stay huddled in rainy North London (free from the horrors of Dr. Credit Crunch and Impressive [non]PR*), little steps are being forged in the world of Yeti.
Over in Italy Don’t Go Back To The One You Love is currently riding, and staying at, the MTV Alternative Chart at number 3.

And over in Germany the album recently became album of the month on premiere music website TAZ.

We’re not sure what it says but we’re assuming its not bad.
Elsewhere, Japan is gearing up for the release of The Legend with a special Japanese tracklist:

Meanwhile back on the ranch, we’re busy polishing off the new album. That’s right, the 2nd album. The Easy One. Some new tunes will be aired at Waterrats on October 17th, our last gig before we shoot off.

Finally…our long-awaited debut album “The Legend Of Yeti Gonzales” will be released on June 23, and it can be found at the usual places. Amazon, HMV and Recordstore are all doing special deals (Amazon are now back in stock). How they manage to make a profit at these prices we don’t know, maybe it’s a just pride thing?
TRACK LIST:
01 OBVIOUSLY
Jangle-jangle. This is the jangliest song possible.
02 DON’T GO BACK TO THE ONE YOU LOVE
“Turn the lights out, shut the window, burn your old clothes, don’t use the telephone…Steal the next car, drive to Mexico.” Windy drama from the Mexican border. Listen out for Graham’s whistling. Video’s on YOUTUBE.
03 TIL THE WEEKEND COMES
The Anti-Weekend song. All these hip bands wanna big up and brag about their weekends. Buffoons! Anyway, isn’t Wednesday the new Friday? Is the Pope black?
04 MERRY GO ROUND
“Me I’m just a stranger, but here they know my name.
Paid to see the madman in a shiny cage.”
Tales from the Van, as they say.
05 IN LIKE WITH YOU
“True baby true, I’m in like with you, but don’t ask me if I love you ‘cos I wouldn’t want to lie to you.”
The Anti-Love song. As in the feeling, not the band (the good one, not The Feeling).
06 SHANE MACGOWAN
Roots music with a legendary title. Texan-esque ELO ending.
07 MIDNIGHT FLIGHT
“I wake up in the morning and I think it’s just a dream
But then I see the bodies on my tiny TV screen
I put my bloodstained clothing in my washing machine
And it cleanses my senses of the horrors that they’ve seen.”
>:->
08 JERMYN GIRLS
“There’s no coming down - not when you get so high
You see the Jermyn Girls - live in a distant world.”
True story. If someone offers you drugs on Greek Street, Soho, it’s gonna be a tissue ball.
09 NEVER LOSE YOUR SENSE OF WONDER
One day this song will be in an ad for some fizzy drink or chewing gum in a foreign country. Preferably Brazil, so we can use the Portuguese samba version.
10 REPRISE
Part 2 of Track 2. Yeti goes semi-prog. It’s what happens if you let the tape run.
11 CAN’T PRETEND
This is the summer in the basement song. Recorded at 4am. And it’s in Mono!
12 SISTER SISTER
“Hold on tighter to the friends that you made in the life that you once knew.”
13 THE LAST TIME YOU GO (6 FEET UNDER)
“Six feet underground, never to be found
This will be the last time that you go.”
Don’t mess with Yeti, okay?
14 WHO IS GONZALES
??? Buy the album and find out. It’s the one after 909.
The album will also be available on iTunes (worldwide) and other download sites. Order now at HMV or CARGO RECORDS.
For those outside of the UK you can either order from iTunes or from one of the UK indie stores like Rough Trade, Norman Records, Cargo Records etc.
Sincerest,
Yeti Secretary
